The korma curry was a big hit at lunch time. Even those who weren't too sure at first were eager to give it a try and we saw plenty of thumbs up across all year groups. Lots of happy faces, empty plates and plenty coming back for seconds!
Reception have been busy learning all about plants. They have been learning about the names of the main parts of a plant and they have a little song to help remember them! They enjoyed planting sunflower seeds to take home and look after, some of which have also been planted in the garden. The class are very excited to watch them grow and see how tall they become
Empower, the primary school mentoring project at The Mix, popped in at lunchtime to offer a focused session on Year 6 SATS and worries about transitions to high school. The session was well attended and children were respectful, honest and conscientious in how they spoke to our guests and asked some fabulous questions. Thank you to Empower for delivering the session.
We wrapped up our World Book Day celebrations with something truly special Our older year groups teamed up with our younger ones for some shared reading and it was such a joy to see everyone enjoying stories together. A perfect way to finish a fantastic day!
World Book Day has been absolutely fantastic! So many brilliant costumes and so much creativity from everyone the effort has been incredible. Well done to all the children (and grownups!) who made today so much fun.
We welcomed our local PCSOs into school for a session on understanding prejudiced language and bullying. The children learned why certain words can be hurtful, how language impacts others and how to make respectful choices. A really valuable visit that supports the work we do every day around inclusion and respect.
It's been such a lovely day remembering Nuel-Junior. The assembly all about the clinic in his honour was incredibly touching and seeing everyone dressed in blue or in their football kits made it even more special. We're so grateful for the kindness shown the total raised so far is £193.18. Every single donation is truly appreciated. Thank you for helping keep his memory shining.
Our school kitchen has been awarded a food hygiene rating of 5! A huge well done to our amazing kitchen ladies for all their hard work and dedication. We're so proud of you!
Year 3 have been making catapults in DT. The classroom has been full of problemsolving and plenty of excited testing as they explored how tension, force and accuracy all come together in a working design.
Year 4 have been busy on the glockenspiels! The classroom has been full of concentration, creativity and some impressive noise!
Year 6 have been busy in DT making a simple tomato pasta, a healthy, tasty snack they can whip up whenever they're feeling hungry. There were a few watery eyes while chopping the onions, but it smells delicious and by the looks of their reactions, tastes just as good too!
We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow! It's set to be a chilly start, so please remember to wrap up warm. Take extra care when walking around the school grounds, as some areas may be slippery. See you all in the morning!
