FAQs

Where can I buy school uniform?

Our school uniform can be purchased from Gordon Ince, Ipswich Street, Stowmarket or by logging onto the myclothing uniform web-site that offers a range of affordable school wear. We do have a supply of book bags. These can be purchased from the School Office at a cost of £3.00 each.

How much are school dinners and how do I know what is going to be served?

School dinners are £2.35 (£11.75 per week). If your child requires a school meal during the week, please top up your child’s Arbor meals account. All meals should be paid for in advance. The weekly menus can be found in the links on our website.

Free School Meals

All Year R, 1 and 2 children are entitled to take a free school meal each and we would encourage everybody to take up this offer.  Research has proved that when children eat a balanced meal they will be able to concentrate and continue learning well during the afternoon.

The school can also claim Pupil Premium monies for some of our pupils which helps us to provide them with additional support. If you receive any of the benefits detailed below it is really important that you register with Suffolk County Council, so the school can receive the additional funding.

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you are in receipt of any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

If your child is eligible for free school meals, they’ll remain eligible until they finish the phase of schooling (primary or secondary) they’re in on 31 March 2022.

In the event of severe weather, we will text parents to let them know details of any school closure. This information will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk (95.5,95.9,103.9 and 104.6 FM) at 10 past the hour and 20 to the hour (www.bbc.co.uk/suffolk). Heart FM (97.1 and 96.4 FM) will also broadcast details of closures after the news, on the hour and on the half hour (www.musicradio.com); the web site will also be updated. Please do not phone the school as our Office staff will be busy updating the systems. Please ensure that your child has warm clothing and waterproof footwear as they will play outside in snowy weather.
