Year 5 meet 'buddy'

14th October 2014
Rosie and Gillan [not Gillianfrom the NSPCC came on Friday to talk to the Year 5's about Child-line. The children were introduced to the character 'Buddy' the friendly speech bubble. Rosie then told them that Child-line offers all children, who are worried or upset about something big or small, a safe person to talk to confidentially and for free. She said that all children have a right to feel safe and cared for and not to be hurt in any way.
Gillan asked the children to suggest things that might be a worry (such as bullying) and then asked them to think of safe adults they knew (parents, Grandparents, teachers etc) who they could talk to, as well as using child-line.

The children listened attentively and had lots of questions at the end.

A follow up session was planned for Monday where different visitors came to see the children.
